College FED Challenge

Time Inc.'s Man of the Year Dr. Furfero is looking for students who would like to compete on the St. John's University team in the Federal Reserve Bank's 2011 College FED Challenge, co-sponsored by the Eastern Economics Association. The first round of the Challenge will be held on November 7, 2011, at the New York Sheraton Hotel. Students will meet at designated times and places, like Common Hours or Sunday afternoons/evenings in the Library, to discuss, debate, and update the trends in the historical data and the new forecasts for 2012 and 2013, current economic and financial conditions, and monetary policy developments and initiatives in light of changing events. from 1:45-3:15 pm in Bent Hall 317 (Dr. Furfero's Office). Open Market Operations in the 1990s by Cheryl L. Edwards U.S. Monetary Policy and Financial Markets by Ann-Marie Meulendyke  The New York Federal Reserve Bank awards Golden Eagle Trophies to the first, second and third place teams. The winning collegiate team goes on to participate in the Interdistrict Competition at the Board of Governors headquarters in Washington, D.C. However, having taken ECO 2309 Money and Banking is a plus.
